Hello!
I'm Eleanor, a writer living in South Manchester, UK.
My debut novel, 'You Never Knew Her', was published in January 2025.
I like to write about human relationships: the misunderstandings, the things left unsaid, the secrets people keep, but also their generosity, kindness and friendship.
I read every genre, and love to read what writers write about writing. I've been a member of Jericho Writers since 2018; they are a wonderful source of wisdom and support for every kind of writer, at whatever stage they may be!
Writers are nothing without readers, so my heartfelt thanks go to my wonderful friends, my multi-talented sister I G Lepist - Author, and my amazing HR Book Group. Of course I should mention my husband, Patrick, too - he just leaves me to get on with it, which is the best support you can have.
After an affair which ends in tragedy, Teresa leaves her unhappy marriage and seeks refuge in a cottage in the country.
She has not had peace and solitude for long however, before she meets her neighbour, Gloria: tactless, controlling – and impossible to avoid.
Gloria has her own tragedy: the suicide of her daughter Rachel three years earlier. Teresa tries to be sympathetic, but Gloria loves to manipulate the truth, and tries to dominate everything, including the lives of her widowed son-in-law and his two children.
As Teresa becomes more involved with the people in her new life, her own past starts to catch up with her, and Gloria's behaviour becomes increasingly bizarre and destructive.
And there are other secrets in the past, that Gloria is determined to keep hidden.
